Mechanical engineering technician

Located in the heart of Old Québec, Concept Naval has been providing innovative, personalized solutions to ship operators, shipyards and other maritime stakeholders for more than 35 years. Concept Naval is looking for a Naval Architecture Technician to join its team from our Quebec office, offering a stunning view of the St-Lawrence river and the Château Frontenac. We offer a unique position through which you will have the opportunity to actively collaborate in various stages of ship design, modification, repair, and repowering projects. You passionnate about maritime or you are curious to explore the industry? We have a unique rôle for you that joins mechanics and naval.

As a Naval Architecture Technician, you will have the opportunity to :

  • Participate in design engineering aspects up through detail engineering;
  • Create fluid flow and pipping diagrams;
  • Participate in the design of pipping and mechanical drawings for ships;
  • Take part in strength of materials calculations for structural verifications, inspections and shipboard surveys;
  • Participate in weight calculations;
  • Write up specifications and reports;
  • Work with all Transport Canada and classification society regulatory documents.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a college education (CEGEP) in mechanical engineering or a professional diploma (DEP) in industrial design;
  • Has a minimum of 5 years of experience;
  • Is comfortable working with regulations and standards;
  • Masters drawing, modeling and simulation softwares;
  • Is very comfortable in French (talking and writing) and is functional in English;
  • Is structured, methodical, autonomous and rigorous;
  • Adapts well to change in an environnement where agility is important.

  • Work with all Transport Canada and classification society regulatory documents.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a college education in naval architectrure;
  • Has from 3 to 4 years of experience in a similar position;
  • Masters the regulations and standards of the maritime industry;
  • Masters drawing, modeling and simulation softwares;
  • Is very comfortable in French (talking and writing) and is functional in English;
  • Is structured, methodical, autonomous and rigorous;
  • Adapts well to change in an environnement where agility is important.

Project Manager – Naval Architect

We leverage our team’s knack for putting innovative ideas into practice, from preliminary concept up through turnkey delivery, to carry out complex design, construction, modification and repair projects for a variety of vessels and other floating structures.

Concept Naval is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Quebec office, offering a breathtaking view of the St-Lawrence river and the Château Frontenac. We offer a unique role in which you will have the opportunity to be significantly involved in the company’s promising and innovative projects, some of which relate to GHG reduction and thus, be on the lookout for emerging technologies of the maritime industry.

As a Project Manager – Naval Architect, you will have the opportunity to :

  • Assist clients in their project realization, determine their needs, establish project scopes, and act as a partner for them;
  • Execute engineering for multiple projects within the company’s targeted deadlines, quality standards, and costs;
  • Coordinate deliverables with various players, both internal and external;
  • Supervise plan and specification development by draftsmen and technicians;
  • Oversee and participate in the design of propulsion systems, structural elements, piping, HVAC and shipboard services;
  • Write analysis reports thanks to your mastery of the tools used to assess vessels hydrodynamic performance (seakeeping, maneuverability, underway resistance, and impact);
  • Assess vessel stability (study of lines plans and tilt tests) and approve booklets;
  • Resolve technical problems requiring research and in-depth analysis;
  • Manage all project stages while staying within the deadlines and budget;
  • Prepare progress and follow-up reports;
  • Actively participate in knowledge sharing (skills and expertise) in order to grow the team and ensure a competent up-and-coming generation of workers.

We are looking for someone who :

  • Has a university education in Naval Architecture – Marine Engineering;
  • Is a current member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Possesses 8 years experience in a Project Manager role;
  • Is fluent, both orally and in writing, in French and English;
  • Is structured, methodical, autonomous and rigorous;
  • Manages priorities and meets defined deadlines;
  • Communicates easily and is agile with customer service.
